PIPING DESIGNER

The Piping Designer is an essential member of the organization, supporting our multi-disciplinary engineering teams. The ideal candidate for this role will be a graduate of a technical college drafting program, have 3 to 5 years drafting experience, with at least 1 year in piping. They will also have experience working in the EPCM energy, transmission pipeline, and petrochemical design environments.
Job Responsibilities:
Drafting Plot Plans, P&IDs, Piping Plans, and Isometric drawings.
Complete and accurate re-drafting of marked up P&IDs and plot plans.
Using “CADWorx” to make small changes to 3D piping models.
Assisting project teams with the production of design drawings packages.
Working with engineering and drafting team members to aid in quality assurance.
Participating in field trips, which are typically a few days and less frequently a few weeks, while assisting in gathering information from existing facilities.
Qualifications:
Post- secondary design drafting diploma preferred.
A two-year program spanning both design principles and good drafting procedures for relaying of a completed piping design and construction package. The program should leave the student with a complete understanding in both AutoCAD and CADWorx (3-D modeling). The EDDT program from SAIT or NAIT are examples.
Drafting process piping certificate
A program geared towards piping. It should provide a strong foundation for relaying a piping design using drawings and should provide the student with a strong understanding of AutoCAD and CADWorx.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Strong analytical and organizational skills.
Strong interpersonal skills combined with a positive, team-oriented attitude.
A minimum of 3 to 5 years of drafting experience, with at least 1 year in piping.
