PIPING DESIGNER

Calgary, Alberta, Canada

The Piping Designer is an essential member of the organization, supporting our multi-disciplinary engineering teams. The ideal candidate for this role will be a graduate of a technical college drafting program, have 3 to 5 years drafting experience, with at least 1 year in piping. They will also have experience working in the EPCM energy, transmission pipeline, and petrochemical design environments.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Drafting Plot Plans, P&IDs, Piping Plans, and Isometric drawings.

  • Complete and accurate re-drafting of marked up P&IDs and plot plans.

  • Using “CADWorx” to make small changes to 3D piping models.

  • Assisting project teams with the production of design drawings packages.

  • Working with engineering and drafting team members to aid in quality assurance.

  • Participating in field trips, which are typically a few days and less frequently a few weeks, while assisting in gathering information from existing facilities.

Qualifications:

  • Post- secondary design drafting diploma preferred.

    • A two-year program spanning both design principles and good drafting procedures for relaying of a completed piping design and construction package. The program should leave the student with a complete understanding in both AutoCAD and CADWorx (3-D modeling). The EDDT program from SAIT or NAIT are examples.

  • Drafting process piping certificate

    • A program geared towards piping. It should provide a strong foundation for relaying a piping design using drawings and should provide the student with a strong understanding of AutoCAD and CADWorx.

    • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

    • Strong analytical and organizational skills.

    • Strong interpersonal skills combined with a positive, team-oriented attitude.

    • A minimum of 3 to 5 years of drafting experience, with at least 1 year in piping.
