ELECTRICAL ENGINEER

The EIC - Electrical Engineer is an essential member of our multi-disciplinary engineering teams. The ideal candidate for this role will possess a minimum of 5 years of experience in Electrical Engineering in the energy, transmission pipelines, and petrochemical industries. As a member of the team, you will report to a Senior EIC Engineer and be involved in the overall design and execution of all aspects of electrical engineering design. You will also review and coordinate procurement phases of the teams’ projects.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Electrical equipment selection and specification of motors, MCCs, transformers, switchgear, UPS, etc.

  • Performing design and review of engineering and construction work packages including:

    • electrical data sheets

    • electrical installation details

    • equipment location drawings

    • wiring diagrams

    • instrument UPS load requirements lists.

    • area classification drawings

    • load list

    • single line diagrams

    • EHT wiring diagrams.

    • cable and conduit schedules

    • voltage drop calculations.

    • material requisition, and vendor packages.

  • Layouts of:

    • buildings

    • control rooms

    • MCC

    • control panels

    • marshalling cabinets

    • junction boxes

    • communication cabinets

    • AC power distribution

    • DC power distribution

  • Developing engineering design drawings, reports, construction documents, and client required forms.

  • Providing regular updates on work progress to support preparation of cost and schedule reports.

  • Preparing cost estimates for electrical equipment bids and proposal work.

  • Reinforcing and overseeing the implementation of corporate quality and safety standards.

  • Participating in field trips, which are typically a few days and less frequently a few weeks, while assisting in gathering information from existing facilities.

Qualifications:

  • Professional Engineer registered with APEGA, TBPE, or NCEES.

  • Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering with an accredited Canadian or American university (or equivalent).

  • Comprehensive understanding of interdisciplinary engineering deliverables for project execution specific to the energy, transmission pipelines, or petrochemical industries.

  • Knowledge of Power Systems Analysis.

  • Design and specification experience with MV and LV MCC substation, power distribution system, single line diagrams, wiring diagrams, motor schematics, electrical heat tracing, lighting and area classification

  • Comprehensive understanding of interdisciplinary engineering deliverables for project execution specific to the energy, transmission pipelines, and petrochemical industries including brown field and green field projects.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Strong interpersonal skills combined with a positive, team-oriented attitude.

  • A minimum of 5 years of engineering experience in EPCM and the energy, transmission pipelines, and petrochemical industries is required.
