Glycol Dehydration
Glycol dehydration allows the removal of water vapour that is present in a natural gas stream. The removal of water vapour will achieve the following:
Prevention of hydrates
Lower the dew point of the gas
Reduce corrosion in pipelines
Increase pipeline efficiency by reducing the amount of free water allowed to accumulate in low spots
Typical pipeline contracts specify dry natural gas as 4 lb H2O/mmscf. It is common practice to design for 2 lb H2O/mmscf.
