IT DESKTOP SUPPORT TECHNICIAN

Reporting to the IT Manager and working with administration, document control, and project staff, the Desktop Support Technician is responsible for setting up and implementing desktop systems throughout the Calgary and US offices of Lanmark. The successful candidate will have a high degree of professionalism and corporate communication skills, be professionally presented, and have superior organizational skills with the ability to focus on multiple tasks and changing priorities; with a mature approach and confidence in dealing with a wide range of clients, business partners and staff.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Communicating electronically (and in-person) with desktop users experiencing technical difficulties by troubleshooting and documenting problems

  • Reproducing, diagnosing, and analyzing problems reported by end-users, in turn formulating solutions to resolve the issue at hand

  • Providing training and advice to users, both in response to identified difficulties and to share tips for optimal computer operation

  • Organizing and maintaining a problems and solutions log for use by other Desktop Support personnel

  • Setting up and deploying IT equipment for new employees

  • Training users in software and operating systems

  • Addressing and resolving incoming tickets from users regarding hardware, software, and network issues

  • Assessing recurring issues to create automated processes where possible

  • Resolve technical issues related to network interruptions

  • WDS/MDT imaging experience strongly needed

Qualifications:

  • COMPTIA A+ Certification and Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) are strongly preferred.

  • 4 – 8 years of proven experience in a heavy customer focus position involving and technical knowledge of a companies' products and services

  • Time-management skills and the ability to establish reasonable and attainable deadlines for resolution

  • Comfortable working in and assisting others through company help desk software, MSP, MS Teams, Microsoft Quick Assist, WebEx

  • Accept constructive criticism and customer feedback regarding their experience with software or IT services

  • Extensive experience working with different operating systems including Windows and Mac OS

  • Ability to prioritize and manage several milestones and projects efficiently

  • Professional written and interpersonal skills are essential when communicating with customers and clients

  • Experience installing and configuring computer systems and applications for a large company
